Global Equality Matters (GEM) is a consultancy that empowers and equips organisations and individuals to deliver transformative change and meaningful results for gender equality through technical advisory services and capacity building. GEM is currently looking for a Project Assistant/Intern to support various projects focused on gender equality for the duration of three months (November 2021 – February 2022), for one day (8 hours) a week.
Deliverables and responsibilities:
Conduct desk reviews, research and situation analysis on topics related to gender equality, with a focus on gender-based violence and the gendered impacts of COVID-19
Develop content for corporate social media channels (LinkedIn and Twitter)
Draft summaries of longer documents, synthesize information from different sources and extract/develop key messages from various reports and guidelines
Prepare presentations and fact sheets related to different gender equality themes
Contribute to the development of training and capacity building materials related to gender
Draft web articles and talking points
Review and provide inputs to gender-related data collection tools
Qualifications, skills and competencies:
Passionate about and committed to advancing gender equality, diversity and inclusion
Strong and demonstrated interest in developing skillsets in the field of gender, development and humanitarian issues
University degree (or currently studying for one) in a relevant field (e.g. Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Communications, International Relations)
Strong spoken and written English skills
MS Office proficiency, especially Word and PowerPoint
Familiar with the professional use of social media (mainly LinkedIn and Twitter)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, work independently and manage time effectively
Skills in graphic design/Canva desirable
